Our goal
The Jamesport Community Association wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnifiers, voice control or other assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA.
What we have done
- You can use the whole site with a keyboard. A "Skip to main content" link appears when you press Tab, and the item you are on always has a clear outline.
- Pages have headings, landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer) and descriptive page titles. Moving to a new page moves your place to the page content and announces it.
- Pop-up windows (like event details) trap the keyboard while open, close with the Escape key, and return you to where you were.
- Form fields have visible labels. Errors and confirmations are announced to screen readers.
- Text and buttons are checked for colour contrast (at least 4.5 to 1), and information is never given by colour alone.
- The pages work when you zoom in or enlarge the text, down to a narrow phone screen, without side-to-side scrolling.
- Animation is turned off if your device asks for reduced motion.
Known limits
- Some downloadable forms (for example PDF registration forms) may not be fully accessible. If you cannot use one, contact us and we will give you the same information another way, or help you fill it in.
- Pictures and flyers posted for events may contain text that a screen reader cannot read. The date, time and place are also written out in the event details.
- Card payments, if offered, are completed on the payment company's own secure page, which has its own accessibility features. You can always pay another way.
- The spam check on some forms is provided by Cloudflare and is designed to be accessible; tell us if it blocks you.
